Ten Things to have in place to Optimise your Facebook profile
As you start down your road of doing business online.
(see image below on where to find these settings)
Let’s have a look at them:
𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 𝒔𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈.
Now you would ask why is that important?
Well as you start sending out your requests, your prospects will go into your profile to see what you are all about.
If your profile is not on a public view setting they can’t see anything about you and most likely will not except your request.
This could lead to a loss of potential prospects.
𝑵𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 “𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖”/ 𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔?
This setting needs to be on “Everyone”, this way people can connect with you and send you friend requests .
𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕 ?
This needs to be on “Everyone” as well, so that everyone who connect with you are able to see all your posts which will help promote your business
𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕?
This setting should be “only me”
Main reason is that some of your competitors will go into your profile and friend everyone on your friend list.
Why is bad you ask?
They could potential “steal” your prospects!
You worked hard to build a relationship with them, which would not be good for business.
Let’s move over to Timeline and Tagging settings
Over here there is 4 main things you should look at
𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆?
This needs to be “only me”
Reason for this is that if it’s on public/everyone anyone can post things on your timeline. This could lead to people posting irrelevant things on your profile that is not in line with what your business vision is
𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒔
This needs to be “on”, the good thing is when people find your content relevant they can share it to their stories/timeline and this would give you extra exposure.
This is a good thing as someone that may not be your friend could then go and see what you do and potentially become a customer
𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆?
This again should be “Everyone”
𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒏 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆
This needs to be “on”
Main reason so that should someone tag you into a post that you may not feel is relevant to your business you can then not approve it and it will not feature in your timeline
How would I see who tagged me into their posts?
Go onto your profile on the right where the “3 dots” are is timeline settings. When someone tags you in the posts, go into privacy then activity log. This will show you whom tagged you.
This great feature is helpful so that you can keep your profile as clean and relevant to what you have envisioned for your business.
Lastly let’s look at “Public posts”
𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒆?
This needs to be on “Public”
Reason is that should someone not be your friend and they can still see what you are posting and could become your friend later on
𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒔?
Again needs to be on “Public”
This way anyone of your followers can comment on your posts
